Teams divide into three to learn the pros and cons of such a grueling race across arctic Alaska. Hear about the race itself, what mushers face, about alpha dogs (leaders), fates, problems and solutions. Compete for miles as your teams ride for first place in the 1,400 mile race from Anchorage to Nome across frozen seas and barrier straits. Integrate English, Social Studies Science, Art and Geography into this simulation by learning facts, writing a musher debating questions and strategizing. Determine, experience, contemplate, analyze, lead and
develop a mind-set, evaluate issues, and come to a conclusion of your own.

Is it worth it; the toll it takes on participants, dogs, time? Do you have what it takes to go the distance, depend on your team while maintaining the same dependence upon you? Determine whether you want to fight against the Iditarod race and it's ingredients or pull together in a common cause to improve conditions for the main participants involved; the dogs.
